What is Charity in Islam?

Charity is the Third Pillar of Islam and menstioned many times in the Holy Quran. It is often refered to as Zakat and is obligatory on every muslim who has the means of giving. A percentage of 2.5% of ones wealth must be given to charity every year. Being charitable and showing gestures of kindness is a highly esteemed value in Islam.

Everything one has belongs to Allah and therefore a Muslim is obliged to share his/her wealth with those who are less fortunate. As Muslims, we believe that giving charity eases our sins and introduces barakat (blessing) into our lives.

Why is Charity Important?

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has narrated:

“The believer’s shade on the Day of Judgement will be his charitable acts”

Nothing feels better than the act of giving that serves as a reminder that everything we have in this world is immaterial and never initially belonged to us in the first place. Be like the Prophet and never forget the importance of giving charity in Islam, not only for the good of yourself but your acts of kindness will help to raise up everyone around you.

Islam is so beautiful that even giving a smile is considered charity.

That is why everytime you purchase anything from Fajr Noor, we will donate on your behalf a portion of every sale. We hope you do no forget those are less fortunate than yourself and become the reason for the smile on someones face, inshallah.
